Art serves a very important role in communities, yet individuals unfortunately do not always feel like the art world is accessible. Gallery spaces are often dominated by wealthy clientele and expensive artwork. However, if art is truly to have a deep impact of its community, it must be accessible to all economic and social groups. Even as an art history student, I find traditional gallery spaces intimidating! I definitely want to check this gallery out for myself--thanks for putting it on my radar! The fact that Sara is a preschool teacher as well testifies for the fact that anyone, regardless of their profession or past experience in the art world, can enjoy all the great art that is being produced by contemporary artists!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10347185763350983148noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4351149635592475082.post-26097096364920279572017-03-21T20:20:20.580-07:002017-03-21T20:20:20.580-07:00This is definitely a great approach to introducing...This is definitely a great approach to introducing more people into the world of art. What often hinders a lot of people from entering and engaging in the art world is because they believe they don't fit a certain aesthetic and they're too afraid to be a part of it. Turban definitely identifies this problem and through her work, I think that the Chicago art scene could become more collaborative and more "of the people." I really hope I can visit this gallery soon and experience this for myself. It is clear that she is very passionate about Chicago art. Was the connection that Detroit art is similar to Chicago art or that there is a Chicago influence in Detroit art? It is always amazing to see someone that is so passionate about something make their dreams a reality through their creative process. The connection to intrinsic motivation is key here when it comes to that. She is a very interesting person and I cannot wait to visit her gallery.
