Matthew Mercer is the dungeon master for the highly successful twitch stream Critical Role. He creates Dungeon & Dragon campaigns for his friends. He has to create entire worlds of lore full of characters and plots that continue to stun the entire audience. Critical Role got super successful with their first D&D campaign in 2015. A to of their success due to the powerful worlds and story lines that Mercer creates.

Mercer creates entire worlds from his own head. He has to create the scenes that the players must act through. He takes the backstories that all the players provide and weaves all their stories into his world. He creates such compelling situations for their backstories that his players have to react to on the spot. These situations are a big reason why the show is so successful. The fans, known as critters, are so passionate about the show and love all of the characters immensely. The fans have created so much fan art and stories of their own based on all the characters.

The show inspires so much creativity from all the critters with the fan art and ideas for their own D&D campaigns. They are also very focused on charity and giving back to the community that has supported them so much. The are constant sponsoring an organization called 86LA, which is an organization that supports creative writing for students in Los Angeles. They raised over $50,000 for the organization during their charity drive in 2018. The show has also helped raise over $117,000 for Red Nose Day, which helps tackle child poverty.
